Nuggets’ Nikola Jokic Delivers Bold Quote On MVP Race
Rob Gray-USA TODAY Sports

Nikola Jokic, the superstar center for the Denver Nuggets, is on the brink of potentially clinching his third MVP title, with only a few weeks remaining in the season.

However, regardless of the outcome, Jokic expresses his belief that the MVP race has garnered excessive attention.

“I think the whole MVP conversation is getting out of control… I think I’m playing good basketball…I think a couple guys deserve to have the award.”

Such sentiments resonate with Jokic’s persona, as he has consistently downplayed individual awards and instead focused on team success and pursuing a championship victory.

Despite securing the coveted title last season, Jokic continues to deliver exceptional performances on the court, arguably playing some of the finest basketball of his career.

While he modestly attributes his success to merely playing “good” basketball, there’s no denying his status as one of the premier players in the league.

Throughout the season, Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers emerged as a strong contender for MVP honors. However, his recurrent injuries hindered his chances, paving the way for Jokic to emerge as a frontrunner.

With impressive stats averaging 26.6 points, 12.4 rebounds, and 9 assists per game, Jokic has undeniably earned his place as a leading candidate for the MVP award.

While acknowledging the exceptional performances of multiple players in the league, Jokic appears to be the frontrunner for the prestigious title once again.

The MVP conversation this season has indeed been intricate, marked by Embiid’s setbacks and the noteworthy performances of contenders like Jokic, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and Luka Doncic.

Nikola Jokic, however, remains optimistic that the intense scrutiny surrounding the MVP race will soon come to an end, with the season winding down in a matter of weeks.
