This Young Buc Is Showing a Lot of Promise This Spring!!

The Pittsburgh Pirates haven’t had a lot to be excited about the past few baseball seasons, last year losing star Shortstop Oneil Cruz to a nasty leg injury early on seeing another young star Ke’Bryan Hayes deal with injuries the past few seasons. This year the two look healthy and it seems that Hayes is taking on a leadership role. With Veterans Andrew McCutchen and Bryan Reynolds in the fold still, this team is looking for an injection of Youth to generate new excitement. The one young star this team has been waiting on and appears to be ready to go this year is…..Henry Davis.

C – Henry Davis

After Last season the talk was moving Davis to play one of the corner outfield spots allowing, Endy Rodriguez behind the plate, well Rodriguez suffered an Elbow injury and just three weeks ago underwent surgery to repair his UCL in his right elbow. This has opened the door for Henry Davis, who has taken the reins behind the plate and has caught for Mitch Keller during the spring. Davis has played in 6 games this spring, 15 at-bats, four runs, six hits, three home runs, eight RBIs, and is hitting .400 so far this spring. He is currently leading the team in home runs and RBIs this spring and has looked good behind the plate. The former number one overall pick from the 2021 draft was called up during last season and showed some pop, but struggled to hit for average. If he can carry over this momentum into the regular season the Pirates might have a surprise ROTY candidate on their hands.
